Transformation is real
If you’ve ever felt like you're doing all the things and still wondering why it feels so hard, this episode is for you…
I’ve had the honor of working with women who felt overwhelmed, over-responsible, and like they were falling short no matter how much they gave. Today, I want to share a few of their stories—how they went from stuck in the ‘shoulds’ to clear, confident, and aligned with how they’re actually wired to thrive.
Include transformation themes like:
- From second-guessing to trusting their decision making process
- From decision fatigue to confident clarity
- From holding everyone else up to honoring themselves

Hi, welcome back to Unfolding.
2
:I am Erica Voell, a confidence and
wellbeing coach, and I use tools
3
:like human design coaching and Reiki
to help women in mid life say no to
4
:what drains them because then they
start to trust their decisions and
5
:understand their unique strengths.
6
:And together we clear old patterns so
that they can make confident decisions
7
:and start putting themselves first.
8
:I believe your human design is your
roadmap and your permission to do
9
:things differently and confidently.
10
:And if you've ever felt like you're doing
all the things and still wondering why it
11
:feels so hard, this episode is for you.
12
:I have had the honor of working with
women who have felt overwhelmed.
13
:Over responsible and like they are falling
short no matter how much they give.
14
:And today I wanna share a few of
their stories and how they went
15
:from feeling stuck in the shoulds
to clear, confident and aligned with
16
:how they're actually wired to thrive.
17
:Because this work, it
really changes things.
18
:I've seen women go from second
guessing in themselves to trusting
19
:their gut for their decisions.
20
:Also, those who have gone from this
decision fatigue and the finding
21
:that confidence and clarity and from
those who are holding everyone else
22
:up to finally honoring themselves.
23
:So let's talk about the stuckness.
24
:That frustration, that exhausting
sense, that you should be doing
25
:more, you should be further along
and that something isn't clicking.
26
:I know that feeling so well
'cause I've been there and in
27
:2022 I clinically burned out.
28
:I was doing all the things I thought
I needed to heal and I kept hitting
29
:the same walls and I kept asking.
30
:Why aren't things changing?
31
:'cause I've done all this
personal development work.
32
:I was meditating, I was doing all
the things I thought I should be
33
:doing to heal and I still wasn't.
34
:And my therapist suggested
I look up my human design.
35
:And honestly, I was really skeptical.
36
:I thought I was gonna be like this, eat
right for your blood type, which I had
37
:tried before and it didn't fit for me.
38
:But then I read my authority.
39
:Which is my decision making process.
40
:I read about the centers, which
are the shapes in the chart,
41
:and something seriously clicked.
42
:I had never felt so seen in my
entire life for the first time.
43
:I wasn't trying to fix myself.
44
:I felt like I was studying myself
and starting to understand myself
45
:because I had thought I was broken.
46
:I thought I'd had all these
problems and I didn't.
47
:I was just operating in a way
that was not in alignment for me.
48
:When I read that everything changed and
you can listen to that in episode three.
49
:I have a whole episode about
burnout and coming out of it.
50
:And when I started to dive deep into
studying human design, I'd studied for
51
:over a year before I thought like I could
share it with clients 'cause I hoped
52
:it would be something I could share.
53
:But I needed it to feel practical,
it needed to feel like me.
54
:It didn't just need to be something
that was interesting and esoteric.
55
:And as I started to work with
clients, I saw that it could be
56
:more than a tool for a reading.
57
:It could become.
58
:this core piece of how I work with women
to come back to themselves to really
59
:understand themselves . Human design
has made me a better mother, a better
60
:wife, and honestly a better human.
61
:My husband is a manifesting generator
and he zips around the house.
62
:He can do 10 things at once.
63
:While, I feel like I'm focused
on one thing at a time, and
64
:that used to drive me crazy.
65
:I felt like I was slow.
66
:I felt like I was not enough
'cause I couldn't get things
67
:done as fast as he does.
68
:But once I started to see that our energy
differences were through our design, that
69
:tension started to dissolve and I stopped
beating myself up for trying to live up to
70
:a standard that I thought he had for me.
71
:I didn't need to move like him.
72
:I just needed to listen to my
body and do things that light me
73
:up and do things in my own way.
74
:My daughter and I both have an emotional
authority, so we need time, we need space.
75
:We need sleep before we
commit to anything big.
76
:And learning that has saved us
money, it has saved us stress, and
77
:we literally have changed how I shop.
78
:When I buy clothes, sometimes
I buy them and I will leave
79
:them in the bag for a few days.
80
:My husband wants me to wash them, but I
feel like I need to let them sit there so
81
:that I can decide if I love them as much
as I did when I bought them, because then
82
:that emotion has settled and then I'm not,
it doesn't feel like that impulse buy.
83
:If I love them, I keep them.
84
:If not, they go back.
85
:These small shifts have
created so much peace.
86
:And for so many of the women I work
with, they feel like they have to be more
87
:than they already are, and some of 'em
feel like they are behind in their life.
88
:They feel stuck in indecision or
they only make decisions when they're
89
:so pressured that they're running
out of time because they don't
90
:know how to listen to their body.
91
:They're also tired of
apologizing for needing space.
92
:They feel like they need to stop
over explaining why they need time
93
:and just to be with themselves.
94
:They also want to understand
why they're stuck.
95
:They have done all the work,
they have done all the.
96
:Yoga, they have done the meditation,
but it's something just still doesn't
97
:feel right and they're looking to
feel a little bit more confident in
98
:themselves and they're looking for
another tool to help move them forward.
99
:And I really wanna say that it's
a tool, but this is studying you.
100
:And when you start to study you,
you understand yourself better.
101
:So let me tell you about Natalie.
102
:When we first connected,
she was carrying everything.
103
:She was running our household.
104
:She was supporting a family business.
105
:She was managing a side business, and
she believed that if she slowed down,
106
:then everything would fall apart.
107
:She was so awesome at starting things,
but she was struggling to finish them.
108
:She was constantly juggling
this excitement with her big
109
:ideas, with the mundane to-do
list that never seemed to end.
110
:But she was exhausted and she needed
permission to do it differently.
111
:Does that sound familiar?
112
:One of her dreams was to host community
meals on her land, and it was this
113
:beautiful vision, but she couldn't
see how she could make it a reality.
114
:And as we explored her
human design together.
115
:Things started to shift.
116
:She realized that saying yes from an
obligation was actually draining her.
117
:And she started to make decisions
from trusting her gut and herself
118
:instead of feeling that guilt.
119
:And she learned how to communicate
our ideas more clearly, especially
120
:with her husband, where she
had faced resistance before.
121
:And guess what conversations
that used to end in a firm no.
122
:Started to turning into a yes
or, and let's explore this.
123
:Over time, Natalie's confidence grew
and I still see it today, and she
124
:started to believe in things that were
possible and within a few months she
125
:was not only hosting those community
events on her farm, but she was
126
:actually getting catering job requests.
127
:She told me recently I'm doing
the thing I said I wanted to
128
:do and I have abundant energy.
129
:You can hear more from Natalie in our
interview in episode six, where she talks
130
:about our experience working together.
131
:So what about parenting?
132
:Not all of my clients are parents,
and parenting can get so much better
133
:when you start to understand your kid.
134
:I recently released a parenting
roadmap report with a private podcast.
135
:You can find that in the show notes.
136
:Do you get frustrated if
you're a parent when your kids
137
:change their minds again, like.
138
:You feel like they can't stick
with one thing or do you argue
139
:with them about quitting soccer
after you've spent $400 on gear?
140
:Maybe.
141
:Your kid's a manifesting generator and
they are meant to pivot when something
142
:no longer lights them up or they have
an emotional authority as my daughter
143
:and I do, and as a former client,
Heather shared with her that her
144
:son needs to sleep on his decisions.
145
:Now she talks to her son about the
decisions that he needs to make, and
146
:he's happy with his decisions, and
then the whole family feels better.
147
:Heather also shared that she also
felt completely unheard in her family.
148
:She's the quiet one in this loud
house because she's the one in the
149
:house with an undefined throat.
150
:She felt like no one
ever seemed to listen.
151
:She said, I feel like I have
to yell just to be heard, but
152
:I don't want to be that mom.
153
:But when she learned about that undefined
throat center, she finally understood why.
154
:Speaking up felt so hard and
how she can use that quiet as
155
:a strength, not a weakness.
156
:And now she speaks less, but
with a whole lot more impact.
157
:And she's parenting with
confidence and not frustration.
158
:Another client came to me with
this absolutely stellar resume.
159
:She's a former reporter for a
nationally renowned newspaper.
160
:She has non-profit leadership
where she made a huge difference,
161
:but she could not own any of it.
162
:She told me, I taught myself everything,
so how am I really qualified?
163
:Her imposter syndrome was so
loud, but when we started to
164
:dive into her manifestor energy.
165
:That she was meant to forge her own path.
166
:Everything started to click, and
that's the thing about this work.
167
:It doesn't just give you
insight, it gives you permission.
168
:So what actually changes for my clients?
169
:They stop spinning in this
decision fatigue, and they
170
:start to trust their decisions.
171
:They're not making decisions
out of a feeling of pressure.
172
:They understand how their body responds
to the decisions that they need to make.
173
:They start to parent with more
connection and a lot fewer power
174
:struggles, and then they reclaim
their energy by removing the shoulds.
175
:We talk a lot in my coaching
about getting stuck in the shoulds
176
:and don't should on yourself.
177
:They also start honoring where they
actually need time and space or whatever
178
:they are really feeling at the time.
179
:They show up differently at work and
at home and in their relationships
180
:because they understand themselves and
they understand others in a new way.
181
:I've had several clients tell
me that they want to know.
182
:What type their coworkers are, what
their partner is, what their kids are
183
:before we've even gotten off the first
session, because it is so validating
184
:to hear this about yourself, and
then you start to see this in others.
185
:And most of all, they stop
abandoning themselves.
186
:They stop checking out of their lives.
187
:'cause this isn't about doing
more, it's about really doing
188
:what works for you and your body.
189
:And when you do, you stop
trying to be someone else.
190
:You stop.
191
:Try to be a parent that
like everybody else, and you
192
:start to finally be yourself.
193
:Because
194
:it's really about integrating the things
that you are learning about yourself.
195
:'cause I mean, you could Google human
design and download a chart, but.
196
:Like learning it and really learning
how to live with it and live in it.
197
:That's where our work really happens.
198
:And so for so many of my
clients, this opens a door.
199
:It's about the first time they
feel truly seen, not just by
200
:someone else, but by themselves.
201
:They stop feeling like they're too much
or not enough, and they start seeing
202
:that they are normal for themselves, and
that normal is something very powerful.
203
:And they finally have someone in their
corner, a trusted guide, as they make
204
:these hard decisions for themselves,
their families, and their careers, and
205
:they also get really clear on their
gifts because when you're clear on
206
:your gifts, your path can accelerate.
207
:For me, I thought becoming a
full-time coach would take me five
208
:years, but then my business coach
asked me, what if it took three?
209
:I.
210
:That felt too wild and too crazy
for me, but it lit something in me.
211
:It didn't take five and it didn't take
three that I told myself maybe I could do.
212
:It actually took nine months.
213
:I don't know what happened.
214
:I just know that I really.
215
:Doubled down and trusted my gut.
216
:I trusted my authority.
217
:I trusted who I was and how I am built.
218
:And I learned so much
about my human design.
219
:'cause really there's a lot
of power in that clarity.
220
:And that's what happens when you
stop, second guessing yourself.
221
:You start trusting how you're built.
222
:'cause you can do a personality quiz.
223
:This is not Myers Briggs,
this is not the Enneagram.
224
:Th those are all about your mind
and how you are perceived by others
225
:and how you think you should be.
226
:Human design is really about
how you are born to operate.
227
:It's your energetic blueprint.
228
:It's your life's work.
229
:And once you see it, you really
can't unsee it and you don't want to.
230
:So if you're tired of questioning every
decision, if you're tired of parenting
231
:in a way that feels draining and unsure,
and if you're wondering if there's a
232
:easier way to actually be you in your
life, I want to assure you that there
233
:is, and I would love to show you.
234
:I want to invite you to book a
free coaching session with me.
235
:We will start to unlock these pieces of
you and see how you can unfold further.
236
:Okay, thank you for joining me.
237
:And if you enjoyed this episode, I
would love it if you would tap the
238
:plus sign or follow the show so that
you don't miss what's coming next.
239
:And if you're feeling generous, leave me
a quick review that helps more people find
240
:unfolding, and I would be so grateful.
241
:If there's someone in your life
who you know would love these
242
:conversations, please share it with them.
243
:Be well, and I'll talk to you next time.
